March 17-18, 2016

Thursday into Friday was basically one long day for us. Sleeping on the plane to Paris was problematic for everyone. We all just cat napped.

We zipped through security and passport control in Paris (quite surprising) and awaited our connection to Nice.

Once on board the Nice flight, many of us slept immediately - out of exhaustion.

Our spirits and our eyes brightened as we landed in sunny Nice, exited the airport and met Jeremy, our tour director for the Nice leg of our trip.In an unusual stroke of luck, our rooms were ready when we reached the hotel. We changed and headed to Cour Sayela in the old quarter for lunch. We chose the Bolognese Ristorante Italiano which reflected the Italian heritage of the area.

Monsieur forgot that in Nice, like many southern areas around the world, food portions are large. The food was wonderful but overly abundant.

The group strolled around the Old City while Monsieur went to the airport to fetch Rob and Tina, who came in from Florida.

At six, we took the tram to the old port for a stroll and refreshment (above). Sommer and Raven tried their first glass of French wine, a rosé. Raven enjoyed hers, but Sommer was not so excited.

A return tram trip brought us to Place Massena, a short walk to the restaurant. We had a fine dinner of salade Niçoise, chicken with potatoes and a stuffed tomato. We finished with a chocolate mousse. We returned to the hotel for a much-needed good night's sleep.
